Gun attack on Child Welfare Committee Thoubal Chairperson

Imphal, May 04, 2013: Chairperson of Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Thoubal Lisham Mala (34) reportedly came under gun attack by a person riding a white i10 car bearing registration number MN04A/7838 at Thoubal Haokha area today.

While tracking down the owner of the i10 car, it has been found out that the car was registered in the name of one Sonia Alam of Yairipok Ningthou Manai.

She is reportedly the wife of Congress worker Alam Azad.

The incident took place around 1 pm while Mala was going from Imphal to attend a CWC meeting at Thoubal DC office in her white Alto car (MN01L/1042) alone.

Mala is the daughter of L Chandrakishore of Thoubal Haokha.

According to reports reaching Hueiyen Lanpao, when Mala reached Ushoipokpi, a man in an i10 car was seen following her.

After some time, the i10 car all of a sudden overtook her and tried to stop her car by coming in the front.

Feeling suspicious, Mala overtook the i10 car and sped off.

However, the man in the i10 car kept following her and overtook her car a couple of times and tried to block her from proceeding ahead.

Nonetheless, Mala managed to overtake the i10 car and when they reached Thoubal Haokha Heibi Makhong, the man in i10 car shot two rounds of gun shots towards Mala from behind.

One shot missed while the other hit the rear of her car.

Mala managed to escape and drove directly into the Thoubal Police Station.

The i10 car was seen speeding off towards Thoubal DC office.

Later on, the i10 car back-turned from Thoubal DC office and sped off towards Imphal with its head light on.

Mala filed a report with Thoubal Police Station narrating the whole incident.

Accordingly, Thoubal Police has taken up an FIR case ( FIR no 85(5) 2013-Tbl PS under 307/427/34 IPC 25 (IC) Arms Act) .
