Imphal, May 04, 2013:
Naga Women's Union (NWU) has strongly condemned the violent attack on Silent villagers by Seijang villagers yesterday.
In a statement issued by its Publicity Wing, NWU said that the ordering the villagers including women and children to come out of their houses and then dismantling and torching the houses was inhuman and condemnable.
Apart from setting ablaze the houses, the attackers have even taken livestock including chickens and pigs, the statement alleged.
NWU appealed to the state government for immediate relief to the affected Silent Villagers as well as for taking up suitable measures to prevent escalation of the situation and to ensure security to the Silent village.
"We urge Seijang village not to repeat such act in future and further appeal to both the villages of Seijang and Silent to resolve the matter amicably through negotiation", the statement added.
On the other hand, terming it has a premeditated assault, Tangkhul Katamnao Long Delhi (TKLD) has also vehemently condemned the incident of torching 36 houses in Silent village by people from Seijang village.
