YWC, RCA, YUCC script victories in MNCA Men's U-23 tourney

Imphal, June 15 2024:
YWC, RCA and YUCC registered victories in Saturday's fixtures of the 1st MNCA Mens U-23 Haobam Biramangol Singh Memorial Tournament.
YWC outplayed TCMDC by seven wickets in a game shortened to 36 overs at Model Hr Secondary & Oriental College Ground, here.
YWC bowled out TCMDC for 103 in 35.3 overs after the latter decided to bat.
Rain Urikhimbam (25), Takhellambam Nganba Meitei (20), Waikhom Mathoi Meitei (16) and Nepram Richer Singh (14) reached double figures in their innings.
For YWC, Yenshenbam Vivek Singh turned out to be the star performer by picking up four wickets.
Sorokhaibam Dailish Singh did his bit with two scalps while Maibam Subash Singh, Heisnam Manikanta Singh, Yumnam Chingkhei Nganba and Soubam Robinson Singh each took one wicket.
In their response, YWC needed 24.3 overs to finish the job, losing three wickets in the process.
Opener Seram Robinson and Yumnam Achouba Singh, who batted at number three, scored 36 each as Heisnam Manikanta Singh (9 not out) and Ngangbam Bingson Singh (7 not out) guided the team to victory after Robinson and Achouba fell to Kongbrailatpam Kalyan Sharma and Laishram Vivekananda Singh, respectively.
RCA, meanwhile, strolled to a 158-run win over ESU in a curtailed match at Moijing Public Ground, Thoubal.
Electing to bat, RCA scored 192/3 in their 28.3 overs as Syed Hussain top-scored for the Lilong squad with an unbeaten 70, followed by Imran Khan (50), Md Alfash (48), Zamir Khan (9 not out) and Iliyas (7).In the process, Md Alfash and Imran Khan fell prey to Oinam Motilal Singh while Iliyas was removed by Hanjabam Naoba Sharma.
RCA then bowled masterly to end ESU's run chase in 24.2 overs for 81.Aziz Mirza's brilliant six-over spell earned him four wickets.
Md Danish Khan picked up two wickets while Iliyas, Naesh Hussain and Syed Hussain contributed one apiece in their resounding victory.
Only Thokchom Simesh (16), Soibam Venus Singh (12) and Hanjabam Donba Sharma (10) managed to reach double digits in ESU's dismal run chase.
At Cherapur (Thoubal), YUCC beat AKSDO by 20 runs.
An unbeaten 63 by Ningthoujam Sanjit, backed up by Ningthoujam Thoiba's 52 and Ningthoujam Rohit's 31, propelled YUCC to 172/4 in reduced 24 overs, setting a 204-run target, via VJD method, for AKSDO.
In reply, AKSDO fell short of the target after managing 183/9 in their 24 overs as a blitz by Winchelly Laishram, who blasted 75 off 44 balls, went in vain.
Ningthoujam Rahulkumar led the scalping for YUCC with four wickets while Somraj Laishram claimed two, with N Sanjit, Kadamjit M and Devraj N chipping in with one each in their win.
