N Yoihenba bags Singjamei MLA chess tourney title

Imphal, August 26 2024: With a competition score of 8 points, Naoremcha Yoihenba wrested the title of the 1st Singjamei Constituency MLA Trophy State Level Open Chess Tournament 2024 organised by Service Recreation and Organisation of Youth (SROY) at Singjamei Thongam Leikai.

In the open category, Moirangthem Sanjit Singh (7.5 points) secured the second position with third bagged by Khangembam Premchandra (7.5 points).

Lemba Sougaijam won the first position, Mexica Soibam second and Lanchenba Ngairangbam third in the U-15 boys' competition, while Nadia Sougaijam, Bidyapati Moirangjam and Bhagyalakshmee Angom respectively won the first, second and third position in the U-15 girls' category.

In senior category, M Dorendro won the title followed by Ph Rajen Singh in second and RK Ningthem in the third position.

The closing function of the tournament was attended by RD & PR minister and Singjamei MLA Y Khemchand, who also handed over cash prize of Rs 25,000 and trophy to N Yoihenba, Rs 20,000 and trophy to M Sanjit and Rs 15,000 and trophy to Kh Premchandra.

Consolation prizes were also awarded to 4th to 10 position holders in open category, while cash prizes were presented to winners of U-15 boys, U-15 girls and senior categories.
