MPSC, SFC victorious in State League

The State League on Monday saw MPSC and Sang gai FC carry the day in contrasting styles in Group A matches played at DSA Ground, Kakching.
MPSC scored twice in a second-period surge to upset NEROCA 2-0 .
After a frustrating first-half, MPSC roared into action as Thongam Chingthangkhomba Meetei broke the 0-0 deadlock with a sublime 48th-minute strike.
Thereon a see-saw battle ensued, but MPSC were more agile in their attacks, putting pressure on the opposition's defence.
The police squad then demonstrated they were deserving winners, sealing the victory with a 90th-min-ute goal from Sougrakpam Dharmajoy.
Earlier, Sang-gai FC came through a tight tussle to grind out a 1-0 success against USA.
Barring the goal, the game was evenly matched throughout, with both sides missing a few of scoring opportunities.
After a fruitless contest in the first half, Sang gai FC showed their intent with a flurry of attacks that ultimately overwhelmed USA's defence, resulting in a goal.
Tensubam Brucelee Meitei rose to the situation in a goalmouth battle, making no mistake in delivering the ball into the net that eventually proved to be the game-winner.
