State boys ease into NSG handball quarterfinals

Imphal, November 27 2024:
It was a mixed day for Manipur in the 68th National School Games Handball Championship 2024, as the boys' team cruised into the quarterfinals, while the girls' team faltered in the Round of 16 in Mahasamund, Chhattisgarh on Wednesday.
In the boys' pre-quarterfinal match, Manipur hardly broke a sweat against their opponents, beating Himachal Pradesh 18-8 for their place in the quarterfinals.
The state boys showed impressive coordination, with Soram Kaiku leading the charge by scoring eight goals.
Thongam Indra also made a significant contribution, adding five goals to the tally.
Nongmeikapam Thoibi and Nongmaithem Zidane both scored two goals each, while Naorem Yohenba added one.
Meanwhile, the girls' team went down fighting, losing 9-10 to Rajasthan in a closely contested last-16 match.
For Manipur, Nomika and N Patalika claimed two goals apiece, while N Selina netted two and Trivenia Yanglem got one.
