Nungshithoi clinches Intra Kangla Chess Tournament title

Imphal, August 20 2024: Nungshithoi Ngairangbam took home the top prize at the 2nd Intra Kangla Chess Tournament 2024, which was held on Monday at Ningom-thong Bazar community hall, Imphal East.

Nungshithoi collected a total of five points to win the title, with Suman Shagolshem in second and Malvin Langapokpam in third.

In the U-15 event, Aribam Punaraj Sharma secured the first position in the boys' category while Luching Loitong-bam won the girls' category.

The U-10 competition saw Lanchenba Ngairangbam claim the top honour in the boys category as Luching Loitongbam took the first place in the girls' category.

In the U-7 event, Mayol Loitongbam came in first in the boys' category while Ira Shankar won the girls' category in the tournament organised by Kangba Chess Academy.

Meanwhile, Okram Manglem Meetei and Luwangshangbam Bishan Meitei were felicitated by the Kangba Chess Academy after the prize distribution ceremony of the chess tournament.

Manglem Meetei received the Manipuri Sahitya Parishad Bushan (Thang-Ta) Award while Bishan won the Mahatma Gandhi Young Star National Award.
