FVFA down SIRTI 24, VBFAM hold AYMFA in 2nd Sangai Trophy

Imphal, April 21 2018: FVFA, Uyumpok downed SIRTI, Chandel 2-0 while VBFAM, Keishampat and AYMFA, Yairipok played out a goalless draw in today's league matches of the 2nd Sangai Trophy Veteran Football Championship 2018 being organised by United Veteran Football Association at Mapal Kangjeibung.

In the Group B league match staged today, FVFA and SIRTI took off the game cautiously to go for a goalless first half.

The major portion of the second half also went similar but FVFA surged ahead in the dying minutes of the play to carve out a 2-0 victory.

The first goal of the match came in the 56th minute through TL Vaiphei while the finisher was netted during the additional time (60+2') by Thangjangam.

The win however could not help FVFA advance into the knock out stage.

In the last Group B league match of the day, VBFAM tried hard to topple AYMFA who were unbeaten so far in the group stage, however the latter team had an easy entry into the quarter finals as the game ended in a goalless draw.
