DFA, Thoubal 1st Division Football League Tournament kicks off

Thoubal, July 18 2012: The 1st Division Football League Tournament�2012 organised by the District Football Association (DFA), Thoubal has commenced today at Kshetrileikai Raising Club Playground, Thoubal.

President, DFA Thoubal, L Chandrasekhar; Vice President, DFA Thoubal, L Shyamo and Vice President, DFA Thoubal, K baruni graced the opening function as presidium members.

Altogether 10 different teams are participating in the tournament in two groups.

LMFA Heirok, YDA Tentha, NGL Lourembam, WYC Wangkhem and SDC Wangbal are competing in Group A.CITYC Heirok, RYDO Charangpat, RPU Papal, ASSA Sangaiyumpham and SYVO Samaram are competing in Group B .

The opening match was played between LMFA, Heirok and WYC, Wangkhem of Group A.After a tough fight, LMFA won the match after defeating WYC 4-2 .

L Nanao of WYC drew the first blood in the 2nd minute of the match taking everyone in surprise.

It was soon equalised by Kh Krishnananda of LMFA in the 15th minute of the match.

Later in the 24th minute, LMFA took the lead with a goal from A Nanao.

The lead was extended to 3-1 with a brace from Krishnananda in the 40th minute of the match.

Short of two goals, WYC fought back to equalise the score and managed to add one more goal in their account in the 55th minute which was scored by Ibomcha.

However all their hopes were shattered when Ibomcha added another goal in LMFA's account in the 76th minute.

Bewildered with the fourth goal of LMFA in the 76th minute, WYC could not scored any further goal till the end of the match and the match ended with LMFA as winner.

N Bo, N Sadananda of LMFA and W Taibanganba of WYC were booked yellow cards for their unsporting behaviour during the match.

RYDO, Charangpat and RPU, Papal will play the first match tomorrow at 2 pm while the second match will be played between CITYC, Heirok and ASSA, Sangaiyumpham of Group B .
