Akham Mahesh, who has played with Churchill Brothers, Dempo, Indian Bank and Mohun Bagan etc.
has pointed out the necessity of imitating the skills of popular players after watching the matches of the ensuing World cup by the young players if they want to make a mark in the field.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao in connection with upcoming FIFA World Cup scheduled to be hosted by Brazil from 12th June, Mahesh who is also known as Bulu, further said World Cup has become talk of the town today as the kicking off ceremony drawing closer.
The much awaited tournament is sure to an everlasting feeling of becoming a popular footballer particularly among the youngsters of the state as usual.
There are so many things which we could learn from World Cup.
So, we should not miss such learning opportunities this time.
Youngsters should keep more emphasis on practicing harder by learning the playing tactics of internationally well-known players if they desired to become perfect players in the future.
Only practicing throughout the day will not help oneself to achieve their goal, after all it also requires hard work and sincerity.
Moreover, a player has to be a well mannered person.
Those players who lack disciplines will never ever succeed in their career, Mahesh said.
The upcoming World Cup would also play an important role in encouraging many players to come up in the state.
In such circumstances, individuals, clubs and organizations should extend their helping hand in producing better players, he added.
After retiring from various popular clubs of India, Mahesh is still continuing his career as coach with YAC.
Every Sunday, he is coaching about 30 players.
Regarding present condition of electricity supply in Manipur, Mahesh noted that people all over the state are waiting for moments of World Cup but the one worry that they have in their mind is whether there would be uninterrupted power supply to watch the matches.
He appealed to the Manipur government to look into the matter and ensure power supply in the interest of the fanatic football fans in the State.
Mahesh has much admiration for Lionel Messi of Argentina.
But he predicts that former champion Spain and host country Brazil will play in the final match of the World Cup this time and Spain will emerge as winner.
