17th Manipur State League: NACO edge United Brothers FC 4-2 to go Group B top; UPAA beat NESU for fourth win

Imphal, March 03 2025:
NACO, Nambul Mapal beat United Brothers FC, Ukhrul by 4-2 goals to seal their third win in four Group B matches of the ongoing 17th Manipur State League this afternoon at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.
NACO enjoyed a 2-0 first half lead and scored two more goals in the second half that also saw United Brothers FC rally back to add two goals to their tally.
Nongmaithem Ashokumar (22') and Pebam Ronendro (43') were on target in the first half to put NACO in the drivers' seat before United Brothers FC pulled back a goal in the 49th minute through Machinmi Kashung.
NACO held their citadel intact after conceding a goal and kept looking for more goals which they got through Takhenchangbam Krisnananda in the 85th minute before Yumnam Borndme extended the lead to 4-1 within three minutes.
United Brothers FC pulled back another goal through Themchui RS two minutes into the added time (90+2') to see out the game 2-4 .
With the win, NACO go top on 10 points off 5 matches (3 wins and 1 draw) above SFC, Tera who are also on 10 points off four games (3 wins and 1 draw) but with inferior goal count.
Elsewhere at Sagolmang ground, YPHU, Lalambung edged past YOSC, Khurai by 2-1 goals to earn their third win and remained unbeaten in 6 Group A games.
All thre three goals came in the opening half as YOSC found the breakthrough after 28 minutes through Takhelmayum Bikramjit before Ngoru Semi Moyon (32') and Okram Rohit (36') scored for YPHU to overturn the lead and eventually sealed the victory.
With the win, YPHU climbed atop Group A table on 12 points.
In another Group A match staged at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong later in the day, UPAA, Kyamgei scored a goal each side of the break to thump NESU, Khurai 2-0 .
Khumanthem Hemlet (17') handed UPAA the lead before Konsam Angamba scored 5 minutes into the stoppage time to earn the 2-0 victory.
With the win, UPAA climbed to second spot again on 12 points.
In another Group A match staged at Sagolmang ground, USA, Khurai beat TRAU, Kwakeithel by 3-1 goals for the third win in 6 matches (3 wins and 2 draws) .
USA entered the break with a 2-1 lead as Thounaojam Suraj (15') and Keisham Dingkal (43') were on target against TRAU's lone goal scored by Yumnam Hiyaikhomba (27') .
The final goal for USA came up after 72 minutes when Chanam Akash converted a fine chance.
