Imphal, March 04 2015: The Fourth Kanglei Mega Sports Festival began at Mapal Kangjeibung on Wednesday.

The inaugural function was attended by Chairman of Manipur Pollution Control Board Dr Ng Bijoy, President of Kangleipak Students' Association Thangjam Premananda and MLA of Yaiskul AC Elangbam Chand as the Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honour respectively.

Soon after the torch lighting ceremony, an exhibition Mukna show was held followed by an exhibition football match between Maniwood stars and a KSA team.

Competitions will be held in five disciplines, namely football, kabaddi, kang, marathon and cheibi at the fourth edition of the annual event.

Kabaddi is making its debut this year.

Eight teams have confirmed their participation in kabaddi competition which will be hosted at Mapal Kangjeibung.

Kang competition will be held at Gopaldev Mandir and Brajanath Kangshang while the marathon race will take place on Saturday with the starting and finishing lines at Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium and Khuman Lampak Main Stadium respectively.
