SSU topple AIM from MSL perch

Defending champions SSU, Singjamei replaced AIM, Khabam as leaders of the 8th Manipur State League football tournament with a late second half goal in the competition's 16th match at Mapal Kangjeibung today.
While the evenly contested match ended with the Singjamei side emerging winner on L gogocha's 66th minute strike following a sloopy collection by the opponent custodian M Deban, TRAU, Kwakeithel trounced ZFC, Churachandpur 3-0 in the later match at the same venue.
A dominant TRAU opened the score through N Mocha only five minutes into the match before Th Prem headed in to cushion the lead in the 39th and K Priyokumar sealed victory from the penalty spot three minutes from the hour mark.
The win, first in four outings, took TRAU's tally to five points, still one point less than the league debutants from Churachandpur, who remain in third position.
On the otherhand, the SSU win put the Singjamei on top of the standing with 10 points, one more than the Khabam side AIM (9) .
