State AR team makes podium finish in Archery championship

The 2nd All India Police Archery Championship was conducted at S&S ITBP BN, Soboli Sonipat, Haryana from 18 to 20 February 2014.The Assam Rifles Archery Team participated in the championship in Indian Round, Compound Division round and Recurve Division round.
The Team bagged overall Third Position, in Men's category out of 17 teams participating in the event.
Overall in the competition team won One Gold Medal, Four Silver Medals and Five Bronze Medals.
The performance of the Manipuri boys deserves a special mention specially that of L/Hav Subhachandra Meitei, Rfn H Bijendranath Singh, Rfn H Heroba Singh, Rfn M Sunder Singh and Rfn Heroba Singh.
These soldiers always performed splendidly and brought laurels to their team and the state.
In this championship L/Hav Subhachandra Meitei won one Gold Medal in Olympic round and two Silver medals in 50 m and 70 m rounds, while Rfn H Bijendranath Singh had won One silver and two bronze medals in 30 m and 50m Indian Round.
In the same event Rfn Heroba Singh won one bronze medal in 30 m Indian Round.
Manipur has always produced world class sportspersons in various fields like boxing, hockey and Archery.
The Archers of Manipur have always made their mark in National events.
Assam Rifles has identified these ace archers and have given them an opportunity to hone their skills.
Maj Gen Rajeev Chopra, IG AR (South) complimented the splendid performance of the team and exhorted them to win greater laurels in the next championship, according to a statement issued by PRO IGAR (S) .
