Dy CM appeals to preserve traditions of ancestors

Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam has appealed to all to preserve the rich culture and traditions of the ancestors.
He was speaking as Chief Guest of the 23rd celebration of Kom tribe's Khurpui-Lam festival held at the auditorium of MFDC, Palace Compound here today.
Gaikhangam further said that the celebration of Khurpui-Lam is a good initiative of the Kom tribe to preserve the age-old rich traditions of their ancestors.
Changes would obviously take place with the passage of time, but the people should never lose their cultural identity.
They must preserve the rich culture and traditions of their ancestors and pass them on from generation to generation, he averred.
Deputy CM also appealed to the people to promote the folk songs and dances of the State to the world.
The celebration was also attended by MLA of Saikot A/C and advisor of Khurpui-Lam TN Haokip as President.
The festival was celebrated under the theme "Peace & Harmony Through Cultural Integration" .
Various cultural performances of Kom tribe were shown during the festival.
