9th MNCA Elite Tournament: Model Club beat PTCC by 27 runs to keep slim playoff hopes alive

Model Club, Singjamei Chingamakha beat PTCC, Patsoi Part III by 27 runs in their final league encounter to temporarily climb to fourth place and kept their slim playoff hopes alive in the ongoing 9th MNCA W Prahlada and W Ramananda Elite Tournament 2024-25 .
Notably, top four teams after round robin league will advance to the playoffs consisting of two qualifiers (first : between top two teams and second : between losers of the first qualifier and winners of the eliminator) that will decide the finallists and one eliminator (to be played between third and fourth place teams) .

PTCC, who have been reeling in the relegation zone opted to field first after winning the toss and bowled out Model Club for 138 runs in 23.4 overs at Moijing Public Ground.
Despite the low target, they slumped to 111 all out in the chase and failed to move out of the relegation zone.
Meanwhile, Model Club moved three places up in the league table courtesy of the win to dislodge SCCC, Singjamei Thongam Leikai from the fourth place on 9 points.
Maisnam Tejkumar 41 off 43 balls, Naorem Dibak 17 off 19 balls, Veteshor Sharma 16 off 14 and Yanglem Suson 16 off 9 were the leading run getters for Model Club in the first innings that saw Okram Sadananda enjoying a three wicket haul (3/15 in 5 overs) and the trio of Sohail Akram (2/22), Naorem Victor (2/37) and Moirangthem Dominic (2/29) sharing 6 wickets.
In reply, Mandingbam Andy 25 off 31 balls, Naorem Victor 19 off 21 balls and Hijam Abit 17 off 19 balls led the scoring for PTCC before they were bundled out for 111 in 23.5 overs.
Ningombam Bisal was head the bowling department for Model Club this afternoon as he returned with the best bowling figures of 4/16 in 4.5 overs while Y Suson (1/18), W Priyokumar (1/23), N Dibak (1/25) and N Anand (1/10) claimed a wicket apiece.
Bishal of Model Club was eventually adjudged player of the match.
Elsewhere at Lairenjam Public Ground, CRAU, Khamnam Bazar ended their league campaign with a 21-run victory over TRAU, Kwakeithel and bettered their position from 8th to 6th in the team standings.
TRAU, despite the loss, remained third in the table on 12 points and are all but qualified for the eliminator.
CRAU, after opting to bat first, posted a commanding total of 171 runs for 5 wickets in 25 overs and restricted TRAU to 150/9 to end their league campaign on a winning note.
Lamabam Jotin clobbered 7 fours and 2 sixes on the way to his 54-ball 66, highest by any CRAU batters today as Ayekpam Rakesh remained unbeaten on 47 off 25 balls (2 fours and 4 sixes) to take the team to 171 .
Salam Somorjit (2/27 in 4 overs), Anoubam Puinachandra (1/34), Sanjembam Somokanta (1/33) and Mutum Swabhiman (1/25) were among the wickets for TRAU in this innings.
Chasing 172 for the win, TRAU ended up gathering 150 runs for 9 wickets despite Sanjembam Somokanta's 50-ball 46 (3 fours) and Kangabam Priyojit (27-ball 23) as Bm Sabakhan (3/34 in 5 overs), Lamabam Jotin (2/22) and Thongam Joychandra (2/25) shared a bulk of 7 wickets for CRAU to disrupt the chase.
Lamabam Jotin who starred with both the bat and ball was adjudged player of the match.
