Governor's Cup polo tourney KPC, IRC clinch men's, women's title

Imphal, March 23 2015:
The 25th Governor's Cup Invitation Polo Tournament and 14th Governor's Cup Women's Polo Tournament organised by Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association concluded today at Mapal Kangjeibung with Khurai Polo Club (KPC) and Imphal Reading Club (IRC) litfting the men's and women's title respectively.
In the men's final, Khurai Polo Club (KPC) registered an easy 7-4 victory against Manipur Police Sports Club (MPSC)-A .
The match began with KPC taking a comfortable 3-0 lead after P Jotin scored a goal and L Ashutosh struck two goals in the first chukker.
In the second chukker, O Roger scored a double to make the scoreline 5-1 after MPSC-A's S Bimol pulled back a goal.
S Abungcha secured a goal while Th Ranjit banged in two goals for the police team in the final chukker.
However KPC's L Thomson and P Ojit slotted home a goal each in the 3rd and 4th chukker to make the final scoreline 7-4 .
In women's polo final match, Imphal Riding Club (IRC) edged out Distrtict Pana Sagol Khangjei Lup (DPSKL) by a margin of 3 goals to two.
The winning goals for IRC were scored by Kh Habe, Kh Deventy and A Romabati.
On the other hand, N Ashakiran and S Sunita scored a goal each for DPSKL.
The men's winning team KPC and runner's up MPSC-A were awarded a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and Rs 30,000 respectively.
Women's team champion IRC and runner's up team DPSKL received a cash prize of Rs 20,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively.
The closing ceremony was graced by Chief Minister O Ibobi, Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Th Lokeshore, Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar and Chairman of HAC Dr Chaltonlien Amo as the chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
