Muslim bodies withdraw LS poll boycott threat

Expressing deep satisfaction over the certainty of former Minister Haji Abdul Salam becoming the first minority Muslim candidate to be elected as the Rajya Sabha MP from Manipur, 14 Muslim organisations hailing the Congress-ruled State Government for nominating Abdul salam to the prestigious position announced withdrawal of the threat to boycott the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
Speaking on behalf of the Muslim bodies at Manipur Press Club today, All Manipur Muslim Organisations' Coordinating Committee convenor SM jalal said Abdul Salam representing the State in the Rajya Sabha will be an epochal moment for the Meitei-Pangals of Manipur.
He also expressed that Abdul Salam will understand aspiration of the entire populace and work accordingly.
Jalal also reiterated that the earlier declaration of the Muslim organisations to boycott the upcoming Parliamentary election, in case a minority Muslim candidate is not elected to the Rajya Sabha, will stand withdrawn.
The 14 organisations include Muslim civil society organisations and students' bodies.
