Jiribam, October 10 2015 :
Swollen Jiri river current has almost eroded the section of its bank at Gularthon where a few houses have been swept away by water, according to Jiri News Network.
Many houses at Gularthon, formerly known as Shamu Paunbi, in Imphal East's Sub-Division Jiribam have been seriously threatened by the river current as rain continued to lash in the past few days, a social worker S Sharat told the media on Saturday.
Jiri river flows near the Imphal-Jiribam road.
A few houses located close to the river bank at Gularthon have been swept away by the raging river current, Sharat said.
Several other houses have been damaged, he added.
He appealed to the concerned authorities to take immediate appropriate steps to prevent major disaster at Gularthon.
