Imphal, April 30 2013:
The All Tribal Disables' Union, Manipur (ATDUM) has lamented the Government's alleged indifferent attitude towards the upliftment and welfare of differently abled tribal students.
Although the Govt is executing various development/welfare measures in the State that included setting up Teachers' Guest House at Babupara and the Cabinet decision to revise the monthly pension of retired MLAs, IAS and IPS officers, the scholarship and unemployment allowances to differently abled students have never been revised since 1987, said a statement issued by Letminthang Haokip, information and publicity secretary of ATDUM.
Pointing out that many brilliant and promising differently abled students went unrecognised due to absence of special school for them, the ATDUM statement strongly demanded the setting up of special schools for them.
