Imphal, May 29 2017:
A lady shopkeeper from Leishang-them Keithel, Thoubal has accused Thoubal SDPO of wrongfully evicting her store, of using violence against her when she demanded an explanation and has urged the authority concerned to clarify regarding the matter.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, the lady shopkeeper, Yengkhom (o) Memcha (43) claimed that Thoubal SDPO along with police personnel came and tried evict her store for the creation of a crematorium.
The five plots including all other plots of the keithel, were distributed to their owners by the Bazar Board in 1986 .
Conveying that she had already submitted necessary documents to the SDPO regarding the store plot, Memcha alleged that the SDPO himself, who had also brought women police, began to beat her when she demanded that he follow rules and to investigate other store plots as well.
Claiming that she had to be rushed to Thoubal district hospital due to her injuries, Memcha said that SDO Lilong, himself, had earlier notified her to evict on a different date.
She came to learn that Irom Chaoba, who was the secretary of the Bazar Board when the plots were distributed, had threatened the Lilong SDO with legal actions if he failed to evict the particular plots despite approval by Chief Minister N Biren.
Memcha appealed to the Chief Minister to clarify regarding the matter and if the claims made by Irom Chaoba were genuine.
She further appealed to the Chief Minister to take up appropriate actions to ascertain the accurate details about the plots and to carry out the eviction process according to the rules.
