Villagers plant saplings

Kangpokpi, May 29 2017:
Lungphou villagers successfully planted more than 1000 saplings at the village under the supervision of the village authority yesterday.
Lungphou village which is located 12 km away from Kangpokpi Town is one of the oldest villages in the areas.
The villagers planted 1200 saplings which covered an area of approximately 2 hectares.

Chief of Lungphou village, Dennis Sehminthang Misao stated that the plantation was conducted without any support from any organisation/ agency and was solely initiated by the villagers.
He further stated that even though the village has been recognised for its good performance in IWMP (Integrated Watershed Management project) by the State Government, fund for the said scheme has not been provided.
