Manipur Human Rights Commission has today asked the DGP to submit reports on a complaint wherein petitioner alleged that he, a visually impaired man, was beaten up by police personnel during dispersal of women protesters at Taothong on July 18.The complainant is Mutym Sunil Singh (27) s/o (L) M Ibotomba of Touthang Lamkhai under Lamsang police station.
The totally blind complainant, also possessing disability certificate, contended in his complaint that the police personnel under the command of Imphal West Additional SP pounced and thrashed him when he tried to inquire upon hearing some commotion near his residence.
Despite intervention of one his sister-in-law of Sunil identifying him as a handicapped person the security personnel continued to cane Sunil, mentioned the complaint.
Sunil prayed before the rights panel to direct authority concerned to do the needful according to law.
