Mass social awareness, empowerment prog held

Churachandpur Assam Rifles organized a mass social awareness programme highlighting the Central and State schemes.
Churachandpur got a tremendous potential for development because of the natural and human resources but due to lack of awareness among the masses, this potential has just remained largely untapped, said a statement issued by the PRO, Defence, Imphal .
The aim of organizing this programme was to create an awareness among the people residing in far flung villages regarding various Government initiatives which can help them in their future development .
The programme was attended by V Hangkhanlian, Minister for Agriculture, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry, Govt of Manipur, Brigadier Ajai Kumar, Commander, 27 Sector Assam Rifles, Khaipao Haokip, Chairman ADC, Churachandpur, SL Poonia, DC, Churachandpur, Colonel Sanjay Kumar, Commandant, 25 Assam Rifles, Rajesh Balwal, SP, Churachandpur, senior military officials, District Administration, Churachandpur, Members of ADC, social and political leaders, NCC cadets.
About 1000 people from Sangaikot, Henglep, Thanlon, Tuibong, Churachandpur sub divisions of the district attended the event .
A number of stalls like Department of Agriculture, Horticulture, Sericulture, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Fisheries, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Aadhar Card, State Bank of India, Axis Bank, IDBI Bank, Department of Postal Services, National Cadet Corps from Rayburn College were set up to help the people in understanding Government schemes and their further implementation which can help them in strengthening their future .
The other aim was to educate the locals about schemes like Jan Dhan Yojana, MGNREGA, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, NRHM, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan etc.
A total number of 84 people registered for Jan Dhan Yojana, 93 for Sukanya Scheme, 127 for Old Age Pension, 178 for Atal Pension Yojana and 278 for Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana.
Stalls for Aadhar card and Pan card registration were carried out.
A total number of 97 people registered themselves for Aadhar card and Pan card in the programme .
Churachandpur Assam Rifles with an aim to empower the youths of the District, also established Know Your Army and career counselling cell stalls.
The stalls helped the students both boys and girls to know about various entries available to join Indian Army and other services through Staff Selection Commission .
A special initiative has also been taken by Assam Rifles to train the girl candidates appearing for various examinations.
The training will be organised by Veng Battalion of Assam Rifles starting from July 1, 2017 .
Medical camp for the children of orphanage was also conducted by the medical team of Assam Rifles.
The programme concluded with an enthralling display by pipe band show, it said.
