Confusion reigned in the offices of the media houses today with Reformist Students' Front (RSF) first announcing that the association will continue the ongoing general strike till August 2 midnight, while a statement issued late in the evening by RSF publicity secretary Henry Moirangthem, finance secretary Jiranjit Luwangcha and vice-president Dayaluxmi Wangjam informed that the proposed general strike has been called off in view of the difficulties faced by the public.
The Sangai Express is hereby covering the two diversely opposing stand of the same body, RSF.
Speaking to media persons at Kwakeithel today, RSF Thoubal district president Illiyas said that for RSF, the ongoing bandh will be extended till midnight of August 2 and appealed to all the CSOs as well as the people to extend support to the said bandh.
He mentioned that today, RSF also supported the bandh called by AMUCO, UCM and CCSK by blocking various roads in the State today.
On the other hand, he questioned why the authorities are allegedly searching for the leaders of RSF and not any other CSOs and demanded the State Government to stop it immediately.
He further informed that RSF HQ in collaboration with Nganapi Thong Meira Paibi, organised a meira rally at Kwakeithel yesterday against the Border Pillar, Framework Agreement and the Manipur University issues.
The rally went till Keishampat before returning to Kwakeithel and the participants shouted slogans opposing any impacts to Manipur as a result of the Framework Agreement, demanding immediate removal of AP Pandey from his post as VC of Manipur University and proper placement of Border Pillar 81 etc during the rally.
