Yamthong's hand in missing arms case established: NIA

The NIA has today claimed that from the interrogations of accused persons, the involvement of Saikul AC MLA Yamthong Haokip in the arms missing case (56 pistols and 58 magazines) from the Arms Kote of 2nd MR has been established.
Nine persons were arrested and three 9mm pistols, out of the 56 missing pistols, were recovered from the members of various militant groups of the State.
A press release issued by the NIA stated that custodial interrogation of the accused individuals revealed the involvement of Yamthong Haokip, MLA from Saikul Assembly Constituency.
Accordingly on July 30, a search was conducted at the residence of Yamthong Haokip, located at Mantripukhri and the search ended yesterday.
It mentioned that during the search, Rs 26.40 lakh (Indian Currency), gold ornaments worth Rs 20 lakh, one 9mm pistol (which is one of the missing pistols from DG pool kote) with magazine, one Beretta pistol (Auto Made in USA and whose licence had expired on June 30, 2015) with magazine, one unlicensed 9mm Pietro Beretta Gardone VT Pistol (Made in Italy) with magazine, one DBBL gun) with licence renewed upto December 31, 2014, one SBBL gun without any mark of identification (with licence issued by ADC Kangpokpi, Senapati district), 22 live ammunition rounds for .32 pistol, 15 live ammunition rounds of 9 mm pistol, 4 live ammunition rounds of 7.62 rifle and 4 live AK ammunition rounds were seized.
It also mentioned that the investigation of the case is in progress.
