Imphal, August 26 2024: Kuki armed miscreants partially dismantled the house of BJP spokesman Michael Lamjathang Haokip at Phailen in Churachandpur and set ablaze household properties apart from opening fire at the residence.

It is suspected that Michael Lamjathang Haokip's residence was attacked for taking part in a panel discussion programme of a local TV channel on the topic 'Kuki supremacy and its agenda' .

The attack took place at around 11 pm on Sunday at Phailien village, Churachandpur.

The armed miscreants came to the residence of the BJP spokesman and asked for him but Michael Lamjathang Haokip was not at his residence at that time.

As they were told that Michael Lamjathang Haokip was away, the armed miscreants started dismantling the house and set ablaze some household properties.

They left the place after firing several rounds of bullets, sources said.

Soon after the incident, a team of Churachandpur district police rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation before registering a case.

It is suspected that the BJP spokesman was attacked for taking part in a panel discussion programme on a local TV channel and expressing his views on the topic 'Kuki supremacy and its agenda' during the said programme.
