Imphal, July 11 2020: Of the 60 state assembly seats, eight has been remained vacant after 5 of the members were disqualified while three tender resignations from the membership.

However, following High Court intervention in connection with the disqualification of Trinamool Congress MLA Tongbram Robindro, it is likely that the Election Commission of India announces by-election to at least 7 Assembly constituencies as an assembly seat of a constituency cannot remain vacant for more than 6 months.

"Even as our party (BJP) leads the present coalition government in the state we are more occupied in restructuring the party functionaries rather than going to the ground", a hardcore BJP worker who does not want to disclose his identity told Imphal Times.

Leading the government by BJP is also not likely to help at ground politics as ally political parties in the government seem to be superseding the leading party, he added.

This is all because the newly elected president of the Manipur Pradesh BJP has failed to appoint office bearers of BJP, that he should do he added but put the blame to three important BJP legislatures including a parliamentarian.

"Should it be called 'incompetency' of the newly elected State BJP president Prof.Salam Tikendra or is it the interference by the top BJP leaders and the parliamentarian that the state BJP still fails to strengthen the party organization by appointing office-bearer at the earliest time - a matter that the Central BJP leaders need to ponder upon", another active member of the BJP said.

Prof S Tikendra Singh was elected as the president of the Manipur Pradesh BJP on June 2, 2020 .

With his appointment the term of the office-bearers ends and to strengthen the party the newly elected president should appoint new office bearers, a BJP Karyakarta told Imphal Times.

A source said that the newly elected state BJP President Prof Tiken had sent proposals for over 3 times but due to indifferences among the top BJP legislatures and the Parliamentarian to the choice of who should be the new office bearers, the central BJP leadership is likely to take time for exclusive consultation on the matter.

State BJP organization is run by 16 (Sixteen) office-bearers excluding the President.

After the appointment of Prof Tiken as the new state president, he should appoint 6(six) Vice president, 2(two) General Secretary, 7(seven) secretaries, among which one should be appointed as Sangathan Mantri (organization Secretary) by the National BJP office and 1 (one) Treasurer.

The source further added that another fresh list prepared for proposal as office bearers of the state BJP includes Nimbus and Sarda as the general secretaries.

As for the state secretaries prepared for proposal includes Joykishore, Nongpoknganbam Basanta (Heirok), Inaocha Devi, Meena, Priyokumar ad Premananda Meitei.

A source however said that there is no guarantee that all those proposed may be approved by the central leadership.

There are possibilities that someone whose names are not in the list but who are acknowledged by the central BJP for their works and dedication may be appointed.

With the party workers busied lobbying for office bearers post, organizational groundworks are left as hollow and some hardcore dedicated BJP workers felt that the party may face the music during the by-election.
