Imphal, February 05 2022: Governor La Ganesan has extended heartiest greetings to the people on the 100th birth anniversary of Padmashri (L) Maharaj Kumari Binodini Devi- an Indian novelist, short story writer, playwright , lyricist and member of the royal family of Manipur.

MK Binodini Devi, a well known Indian novelist was conferred Padmashri in 1976, Sahitya Akademi in 1979 for her magnum opus 'Bor Saheb Ongbi Sanatombi' .

She was conferred various awards�Jamini Sundar Guha Gold Medal in 1966 for her first book on short stories 'Nungairakta Chandramukhi', and best story award at the 9th Manipuri State Film Award for the movie 'Nangna Kappa Pakchade', posthumously in 2014, said the Governor.

Saying that some of her works are included in school curriculum and colleges today, the Governor added that MK Binodini Devi is one of the icons who heralded a literature movement in Manipur and continues to inspire many in the field.
