INDIA Bloc takes Imphal, Delhi to task
Source: The Sangai Express

Imphal, May 03 2024: The State unit of INDIA Bloc has asked the BJP Government at the Centre and the State to take full responsibility if there is a civil war or if President's Rule imposed in the State.

Speaking to the media at Congress Bhavan today, State convenor of All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) Dr Th Inaocha said that there still is no sign of the Centre and the State Government putting in efforts to resolve the crisis which completed one year today.

Thousands of Central forces are being deployed yet Manipur still is in a restive state and the Kuki militant groups which signed the Suspension of Operation (SoO) pact with the Government are openly taking part in violent activities, he added.

The Government has not taken up any action against the 10 Kuki MLAs who demand bifurcation of Manipur by disregarding the Indian Constitution, Dr Inaocha charged and added that the Central forces cracking down on village volunteers was done under the direction of the Government.

The AITC leader said that the duty of the legislators is to resolve the protracted crisis in the State.

People also don't see MLAs taking any resolution to work out a political solution to the crisis engulfing Manipur since May 3, 2023 and restore normalcy, Dr Inaocha maintained.

If the violence in Manipur persists then there may be President's Rule or a civil war in the State, he cautioned and asked the Centre and the State Government to take responsibility if the situation in Manipur worsens.

Cautioning that Manipur will head into an uncertain and gloomy future if the violence persists, he urged the BJP Government to restore normalcy in Manipur by reaching out to all stakeholders concerned.

Convenor of INDIA Bloc, Manipur cum State secretary CPI (M) Ksh Santa claimed that it is the lapses in the policy and programme of the BJP led Government at the Centre and the State which is making Manipur restless.

Accusing the BJP Government of engaging in divisive politics, Ksh Santa added that a large section of people now see the divisive politics of BJP and they no longer have faith in the saffron party.

He went on to claim that the BJP has been employing money and muscle power to stay in power across the country.

The Left leader maintained that the support given by the people to the common candidates of INDIA Bloc in two Parliamentary seats of Lok Sabha election Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam and Alfred K Arthur was overwhelming and they would surely be elected.

MPCC working president Kh Devabrata said that the people in Manipur didn't expect the crisis in Manipur to drag on for a year.

Saying that the violence in Manipur would have ended a long time back had the Centre and the State Government taken up appropriate action on time, the MPCC leader claimed that the violence in Manipur was designed by the double engine BJP Government.

The Government points its finger at the illegal immigrants and narco terrorists for the violence in Manipur but they can't do anything against them, Devabrata charged.

He also said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah didn't say anything about updating the National Register of Citizens (NRC) when he was in Manipur for a poll campaign recently.

A section of people now cannot traverse along National Highways while security forces have started cracking down on village volunteers, he said and added that there is complete lawlessness in Manipur due to the lapses in the policy and programme of the BJP led Government.
