IPR delegation media exposure trip to China

A seven-member team led by Parliamentary Secretary Information Public Relations, R Tohanba and Commissioner Secretary Information Public Relations, M.K.Mero, toured Kunming City in the Yunnan Province, China as part of media exposure trip from 10th December to 15th December 2012 .
During the stay the team visited the ethnic villages of the Yi people who also have rich ethnic culture, songs and dances very similar to the Nagas.
There are 56 ethnic groups in China out of which 52 are from Yunnan Province with an ethnic population of 4 and a half million.
The ethnic village of Kunming Yunnan is very similar to Kisama village where all the fifty six (56) Yi people showcase their primitive folkways, culture and folk � customs in one place whole year round.
Nu, Miao, Jinuo, Mongolian, Sani, Haiyi and Primo are some of the Yi's ethnic villages visited by the team.
The group also walked through the spectacular Stone Forest of Yunnan and had an experience of viewing the panoramic view of the Stone Forest covering an area of 1,100 square kilometers and maintained by the Tourism Bureau Government of China.
Stone Forest which is about 78 kilometers away from Kunming in the Southeast was registered as World Heritage Site on 27th June, 2007 .
The Yi ethnic group's Sani culture adds more vigor and vitality to the Stone Forest's natural scenery.
Sani costumes have been the uppermost travel souvenir in Stone Forest.
The group visited the research institute Yunnan Agriculture University, the base for RD Program of Puerh tea and was enriched by learning the varied health benefits of the different tea which was explained by a research student of the Institute.
The team members also enjoyed sips of Stemma Tea, Aged Puerh Tea and Monkey Plucking Tea offered during the course of explanation and demonstration.
The team also paid a visit to the Flower Market at Kunming City where beautiful orchids, bonsais, garden plants, flower bulb etc are sold.
The group also met some of the Naga students studying in China through the Director and Pastor of English Corner, Shapa Konyak, over sumptuous lunch and had photo session.
Kunming City covering an area of 21,000 square kilometer and with a population of 6.57 million is one of the most interesting and exciting city in Yunnan Province with the rich cultural traditions of the ethnic minority groups.
It is accessible to travel to Kunming.

Besides the Parliamentary Secretary and Commissioner Secretary Information Public Relations, Additional Director, Pausui Zeliang, Deputy Director Tokishe, Editor Capi, Mhalezolie and other IPR officials who left the state on December 10 returned on December 16 .
