NRHM staffs suspend cease work stir

All Manipur National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) Technical Support Staff Union and Association for Block Assistance Finance (Account Managers) have suspended their cease work strike today following an agreement with Manipur health minister Phungzathang Tonsing today.
The Union general secretary, Salam Pari Luwang said the state government has agreed today to fulfill their demands that include for the releasing of the due salaries for the years 2011-2012 of the staff by January 2013 .
However, due to the Christmas, the staff of the NRHM for the districts of Churachandpur, Chandel and Tamenglong have been released already.
The state health minister also agreed to have the service rule for the staff.
According to Salam Pari Luwang, contractual staff will now have maternity leave and also that they will now have the uniform system with regard to the excess performance honourium.
Pari Luwang then stated that the health minister was not aware of the Programme Implementation Plan (PIN).
According to the guideline of the PIP, 75% of the vacant posts for the regular staff, priority should go to the contractual staff of the NRHM.
However, the health minister assured the agitating employees that during his tenure the matter will be addressed.
Meanwhile, Pari Luwang appealed the agitating staff to resume their duties from Thursday.
It can be noted here that fumed over the adamant attitude of the state government of Manipur, contractual staff of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) had stormed the office of Health and Family Welfare located at BT Road in Imphal and locked up the office in the first week of December.
The staff of NRHM under the aegis All Manipur NHRM Technical Support Staffs Union and Association for Block Assistant Finance/Account Managers had gheraoed the office of Health and Family Welfare.
They had insisted that the Director of the department should talk with them on matters concerning the staffs but to no avail.
At that turn, the agitating staffs locked up the office.
The demands of the agitating contractual employees are for the extension of their contract period; Streamline the structure of basic pay scale; constitute a pay committee to streamline their salaries and a monthly honourium for the ASHAS.
