Thoubal, November 17 2012:
Alleging the State Government of trying to ignore Chandel district headquarters while implementing any development projects in the district, the Anal Naga Taangpi (ANTA) has warned of launching protest against the State Government in case two pending projects are not installed at the district headquarters.
Speaking to media persons today at ANTA office located at Panchai Village in Chandel district, president of ANTA, Wng Kohring Victor said that the State Government is deliberately set to construct a Court Complex for the district at Moreh although it is entailed to be constructed at the district headquarters or at the least 7 km away from the headquarters.
Likewise, the matter of construction of an FCI Godown at Chandel district headquarters has also been strongly disputed, Kohring Victor said.
Categorically asserting that the two projects have to be installed at the district headquarters, Kohring warned of unwanted consequences if the Government fails to pay heed to the matter.
The ANTA, along with like-minded frontal organisations, also decided to rise against the concerned authority if the black-top work for 16 km Pallel-Chandel stretch of road is not taken up by December 10 .
Lamenting that the construction of Monsang Pantha-Thangbung Mino road, a short-cut road to Moreh from Chandel, is intentionally ignored by the Government despite several proposals, the ANTA president appealed all concerned MLA, DC, SP, SDO, CO of 8 MR, CO of 42 AR, social workers, EE of PWD, and other officers and public leaders to lend assistance to the efforts of ANTA in constructing the said road which was started on Nov 13 last in collaboration with DRDA Chandel, DLOs and public leaders of Chandel.
Kohring also decried that Chandel district is lagging behind other districts in education, banking, medical facilities etc while pointing out that the lone Govt Hr Sec School at the district headquarters is run without regular head besides lack of infrastructure and other requirements.
Based on its finding during the recent inspection tour conducted by the Anal body, there have been many Govt schools run without students, the ANTA president pointed out.
It also came across many contract/substitute teachers appointed by respective village chiefs, he said while adding that the names of such contract/substitute teachers would be made known to the public if the authority fails to correct them within December 15 .
Maintaining that the lone SBI branch at the district headquarters could not cater to the needs of the customers, the ANTA president also strongly felt the need to set up ATM facility at the headquarters.
Victor further warned of launching protest against the Government if the work for construction of a Sports Complex near the district hospital is not resumed by Dec 20 .
He also urged the doctors and nurses of PHC and CHC to discharge their duties sincerely.
The press meet was also attended by ALT president PS Monihring; chairman of Maha Area Chiefs' Association, Sng Lumdil and various public leaders of Chandel district.
