Electricity Employees' Union urges general public

The Manipur Electricity Employees' Union has urged the general public to co-operate with the Electricity Department in conserving power.
The union in a press release appealed the power consumers to put the electrical items and appliances switch off when not in use.
Maintaining that the ongoing drive has been initiated for the welfare of the general public, the union urged all to extend co-operation in the drive.
Informing that around Rs 15,45,93,120 has been collected so far from the ongoing drive, the union said that 242 persons have been detained for illegal connection and 13675 lines have been disconnected.
56 defaulters have also been given the chance of reconnection, it added.
Consequently, 6-7 MW of power can be conserved daily after the drive was started on January 28 last, the press release added.
