Even as the State Health authorities are all set to send blood samples collected from three suspected Japanese Encephalitis (JE) patients, at New Delhi for examination, another case of JE suspect has been detected at JN Hospital.
JN Hospital authorities had informed the office of the State Epidemiologist yesterday that one patient presently undergoing treatment at the same hospital has symptoms of JE, SE Dr Th Biren informed The Sangai Express.
Dr S Ibomcha, senior physician of the hospital mentioned the urgent need of the SE office to look into the matter and added that his team would collect blood sample from the patient at the earliest.
Mention may be made her that the State health authorities have already collected blood samples from three patients from Shija Hospitals currently undergoing treatment.
Dr Biren further said that the blood samples from Shija Hospital along with the blood sample of the patient undergoing treatment at JN Hospital would be sent together at National Institute of Communicable Disease (New Delhi) for examination.
He also disclosed that NICD officials have been intimated on the matter.
About the process of the examination of blood samples, Dr Biren said that after getting the examination report, another test (second and final) would be done after collecting the samples from the same patients.
Collection of blood samples for the second test would be done 10 days after obtaining the first examination report, he also added.
In the meantime the State Malaria Officer (SMO) Dr Dhaballo has made a spot study at Bishnupur town areas in connection with the recent death of five persons there.
As a part of combating suspected outbreak of Malaria, the health authorities would be conducting fogging and spraying of DDT at the Municipal areas of Bishnupur at the earliest, he said.
