Imphal, December 04 2012:
Ahead of the crucial December 5 meet, officials of the State Home Department and leaders of the Kuki National Organisation (KNO) and United People's Front (UPF) have left for Delhi for today.
The scheduled meeting tomorrow gains significance in the wake of the stringent demand raised to initiate a political dialogue under the SoO pact from the two conglomerate organisations as well as numerous Kuki civil society organisations.
Sources informed The Sangai Express that leaders of the KNO and UPF will put up a strong case to initiate a political dialogue under the SoO pact, which has been in force for over seven years now.
The SoO pact expired on November 22, but it was agreed that the principles of the pact and the ground rules would continue, as an interim arrangement.
The State Cabinet had yesterday decided to give the nod to the extension of the SoO pact for another one year.
Government spokesman, M Okendra had yesterday stated that the Cabinet had also noted that under the SoO pact, the question of carving out the territorial boundary of the State to make for any homeland demand does not arise.
