Zero Garbage Drive

Moreh Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organized a programme on "Zero Garbage Drive" in Mission Veng village, Ward No 1, Ward No 2, D-Munaphai and New Sijang villages in Tengnoupal district on 31 August.
A total of 30 villagers (Male 20, Female 07 and 03 children) including village chief and secretary were briefed regarding the importance of cleanliness and were also motivated to keep their village clean.
Assam Rifles personnel alongwith overwhelming support from the villagers made combined efforts to make the village area clean and spread awareness amongst the locals.
The villagers were briefed regarding proper waste disposal and they were also encouraged to stop use of polythenes to enable preserving the environment.
They were also advised to throw the waste only in dustbins and earmarked pits which should regularly be cleaned/ regulated.
The villagers were also encouraged to make use of toilets for sanitary cleanliness.
The vigorous efforts were concluded with tea and refreshment for the participants.
The event was on the lines of the ongoing 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' an initiative of Honorable Prime Minister of India which is being encouraged as a movement in various parts of the country.
