Free health check-up eve camp held

Lions Club of Imphal Valley, Lions Club International District- 322D today organised a 1-day Diabetes Detection cum Awareness and Health Checkup programme for women vendors at Khwairamband Ima Keithel No 1, Imphal.
During the programme, free blood sugar testing and blood group testing were done for about 150 women vendors.
Medicines were also provided to the patients for free of cost.
The women vendors were also made aware about diabetes, hypertension and osteoporosis.
At the event, Dr M Romi Singh stated that the programme was conducted under the theme of "Access to Diabetes care" to make the women vendors aware about diabetes prevention & care.
He shared that due to unhealthy eating habits, smoking, abusing alcohol, poor sleep, high stress and physical inactivity many people are suffering from high blood pressure, diabetes and heart diseases.
He advised all to make lifestyle changes such as improvements in physical activity and diet to reduce the risk of developing lifestyle diseases.
First vice district governor Th Kesho Singh, past district governor H Manikumar, H Sonamani Singh, Lions Club International District 322D district co-ordinators, Lions Club of Imphal Valley medical professionals and members of AKSIL also took part in the programme.
Meanwhile, Imphal West District United Clubs' Organisation (IWDUCO) in collaboration with Singjamei to Lilong United Clubs' Organisation (SLUCO), Kyamgei Khagemba Youth Club and Yaima Eye Hospital, Khagempalli Pankha Huidrom Leikai under the aegis of All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO), on Sunday conducted a free eye camp at Kyamgei Mayai Leikai in Imphal West district.
Altogether, 200 persons were examined for eye related issues during the camp, said a release issued by AMUCO.
75 spectacles were also distributed to the patients for free.
AMUCO president Nando Luwang, vice president MM Thambou, secretary publicity Laishram Krishnachandra, secretary organisation Santosh Koijam, assistant finance secretary T Momocha, executive member Maibam Thabi and YOFFS member Thomash also took part in the camp.
