10th foundation day of IGNTU, Manipur Campus celebrated

The 10th Foundation Day of the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (IGNTU), Regional Campus was held at the Library Hall of the University at Makhan, Kpi District, Manipur today.
The celebration was graced by Administrator of Manipur University, Jarnail Singh and presided by Prof Prasanna K Samal, Dean of Tribal Studies, IGN Tribal University, Amarkantak.
A Souvenir was also released as part of the 10th Foundation Day celebration by the dignitaries.
Dr Ng Ngalengnam, Director (i/c) of the Manipur Campus, while delivering the welcome address appreciated and acknowledged the Vice-Chancellor Prof TV Kattimani for encouraging and supporting the initiatives of the Manipur campus.

Recalling the history of IGN Tribal University, Manipur, he said that the campus was initiated in the year 2009 and inaugurated by former CM O Ibobi Singh in the presence of Prof CD Singh and OSD, Th Oliver Monsang adding that the campus started its journey with the MPhil Programme in Political Science in 2009 and subsequently Master Programme in Social Work (MSW) and Political Science.
The Campus has now five departments offering Master programme and PhD Programme, he added.
In his concluding speech, he touched upon the achievement of the Alumni, who are now working in different positions at the Government and non-Government sectors.
Administrator of MU, Jarnail Singh, while giving the speech, emphasised the need to expand the IGN Tribal University, Manipur Campus by opening more departments and also by increasing the existing seat, so as to accommodate more students.
He stated that the gap between the number of graduates passing out every year from different colleges of Manipur and the number of seat available for higher education in Manipur is very high adding that this situation has denied many students, who could not afford to study outside the state for further studies.
He also recalled how Manipur University is expanding in the interest of the students and research scholars.
Prof Prasanna K Samal shared the message of the Vice-Chancellor Prof TV Kattimani, who could not attend the programme due to an unavoidable administrative engagement at the University Headquarters.
He shared the vision of the University and the opportunities to expand the Manipur campus.
The celebration concluded with the vote of thanks by SL Varte, Deputy Registrar of Manipur campus while students performed various cultural programme as part of the celebration.
