MC Mary Kom, India's first woman boxer to have won four World titles consecutively would be featured along with 24 athletes from the around the world, in BBC's forthcoming multi-platform project across TV, radio and online, entitled World Olympic Dreams.
"A BBC team will be arriving here shortly for shooting the documentary", K Onkholer Kom, a caring husband of the world champion boxer said on the sidelight of formal launching his wife's website (www.marykom.com) at their Langol games village residence near Imphal here on Thursday.
Besides the Padma Shri Awardee boxer who is currently attending a national boxing coaching in Bhopal,one more Indian athlete was also listed among the BBC's 25 athletes drawn from across all five continents and competing in 20 different Olympic Sports.
The BBC's worldwide reporting network will begin to track the athletes from 27 July next onwards, as they strive to turn their hopes for Olympic success at London 2012 into a reality, the leading news organisation said in a release recently.
Those featured include the prominent athletes such as Sir Matthew Pinsent, the four-time Olympic gold medalist,Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt, Kosovan Judoka Majlinda Kelmendi, Afghani Taekwondo fighter Rohullah Nikpai, Iraqi rowers Hussein Hamza and Nozad Haider, British NBA star Luol Deng etc.
Viewers will be given a real insight into each of the athlete's unique stories and very different personal circumstances while they all work towards the same goal of Olympic success: personal training regimes; coaches; diet; family; friends; their likes and dislikes and the sacrifices they all have to make,it added.
Earlier speaking to reporters Onkholer added," I hope this new website will help her while communicating the people for her better performance in upcoming championships" .
Sharing a similar sentiment,the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Awardee pugilist who is currently in Bhopal said,"It's a good news for me, I hope it (website) will help me in improving my career".
The mother of twin sons boxer who is one of the country's biggest hopes for an Olympic gold medal is presently preparing for the forthcoming Asian Games in Kazakhstan in November next and World Women Boxing.
