The Governor Ved Prakash Marwah who is leaving Imphal shortly for New Delhi to apprise the central leaders of the prevailing situation in the state, has expressed strong optimism for a positive outcome from his proposed visit to Delhi.
Assuring an all out effort from his government to not only protect the territorial integrity of the state but also to remove all the doubts and suspicions that have arisen about the extension of the ceasefire, a Raj Bhavan communiqu appeals to the people of Manipur to maintain communal harmony and not to do anything which will only make the already difficult situation more difficult.
The Governor in his communiqu also appreciated the fact that not a single communal violence has taken place anywhere in the state so far and also the restraint shown by the people.
He appealed the people to maintain the best traditions of age-old amity between all the ethnic groups.
The communiqu further said that the government is committed to giving all possible security to every inhabitant in Manipur irrespective of ethnic identity and at the same time appeal the people to cooperate with the government in maintaining peace and order.
"An escalation of the already high tension will only be counter productive.
