A mob of anti ceasefire protesters attacked and dismantled and burnt down a building belonging to BJP MLA and former power minister Govindas Konthoujam this morning at Sangaiprou on the Airport road.
Reports said about 200 people gathered early this morning at the Airport road and broke into the building and dismantled it before the police could arrive.
Reports also said that the mob while dismantling the house found several narcotic drugs, including Nitrosun-10, Spasmo proxivon, Sayona, Calmpose and others hidden inside the house.
After recovering the drugs, the mob set fire to the house.
Meanwhile, according to a reliable source, the occupants of the house had been warned by some unidentified persons a few days back that they intended to burn down the building; and as such the residents had already removed most of the household goods and other material from the building.
In a late night development, houses of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members, Thounaojam Chaoba and Wahengbam Angou' were attacked by angry mobs.
The residence of MP Thounaojam Chaoba at Utlou came under attack from over 100 slogan shouting protestors at about 11 pm.
The protestors first pelted stones at the house of the Lok Sabha MP.
After a while the huge mob brought down the main gate to his three storeyed residence and ransacked the ground floor.
The mob broke window panes and some furniture.
There are however no major damages according to reports received here.
According to the reports, local meira paibis have been protecting the house since the last few days following rumor of intended attack at his residence.
The report further said that most of the costly furniture have been shifted to his relatives' places following the rumor.
Earlier, the crowd set the residence of the Rajya Sabha MP W Angou's house on fire located a few kms away at Layenjam Mayai Leikai.
The crowd later headed towards the house of the finance minister H Lokhon's residence when report last came in after midnight.
Earlier at around 10:30 pm, around 40 unidentified persons set the residence of the former panchayati raj and GAD minister N Bihari afire at Khurai Kongpal.
The timely intervention by fire service personnel however prevented any major damage to the house.
Some furniture and house hold items were however damaged during the attack.
Unconfirmed sources said that the residence of the State Assembly Speaker Dr Sapam Dhananjoy was also attacked tonight.
The report however could not be confirmed.
Earlier, last night, angry people who took part in the late night demonstrations against the ceasefire extension yesterday also damaged private residence of BJP legislature wing leader and former chief minister R K Dorendra Singh at Yaiskul.
Some portion of the house was damaged in the attack although the people could not set fire to it because of heavy security deployment there.
The Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhrimapal residence of CRPF deputy commandant Premjit Singh, who was security in charge at the chief minister's office on the fateful day of June 18, was also destroyed completely by an angry mob this morning at around 2:30 am.
Household goods and other valuable items were forcibly taken out and set ablaze or thrown into the Ningthem Pukhri by the angry 'mob even as the occupants of the house stood by helplessly.
The mob also tried to set fire to the house, but were prevented by the family members and neighbors since the fire may spread to, the neighboring houses.
The; mob however succeeded in completely dismantling the house.
Premjit's family members told IFP that the incident was preplanned and the handiwork of some vested interests.
Security personnel were deployed early this morning following the incident.
