Imphal, March 29 2015:
The All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) has said that the education system of the State is now in a complete disarray.
From the primary level to university level, the education system is plagued with different forms of irregularity, AMSU said in a statement issued by its Information and Publicity Secretary.
The statement said that there is no student at primary level in Government schools, as such funds meant for mid-day meal go to the pockets of some individuals and officials, who are expert in earning money on the table.
Regarding non-issuance of admit cards to a huge number of students by CBSE, the statement said that the root cause of this issue is negligence and incompetency of the authorities concerned.
It further said that these officials never took up necessary measures to avoid such unwanted instances.
They never checked the credentials of these schools which claimed themselves as CBSE affiliated institutes on time, the statement said.
On the other hand, the statement said that at the college level, lots of valuable time and working hours were wasted due to teacher's agitation.
At post-graduate level, the State Government has not taken up any step to run post-graduate courses in the colleges which have necessary infrastructure and manpower although a large number of students do not get admission in Manipur University as it has only 1250 seats.
The statement said that the English Department of DM College of Arts and Manipuri Department of GP Women's College can run post-graduate courses as these colleges have required manpower and infrastructure.
On the other hand, All Manipur Hill District Contract Basis Teachers Association is set to launch a stir demanding service regularisation.
These teachers were appointed in 2006 and physical verification regarding their service regularisation was conducted in 2011 .
However, no step has been taken regarding the matter till date, the statement added.
As human resource development is key to all forms of development, the Education Minister must translate his promises and tall claims into action, the statement said.
