Bombs lobbed at 3 houses, one after the other

Imphal, August 26 2024: In a series of attacks that unfolded one after the other last night, unidentified persons lobbed handgrenades at three residential houses in different parts of Imphal West.

All the three residences belong to members of the Board of Directors of Salai Holdings, Yumlembam Bro-jendro (60), Akoijam Deepanand and Mayengbam Tolenjao Mangang (55) .

Of the three handgrenades, one exploded but did not hurt anyone.

The first attack came at around 9.30 pm yesterday at Lalambung Makhong Takhellambam Leikai, under Imphal police station.

Sources said, two unidentified persons placed a hand grenade at the residence of Yumlembam Brojendro (60) .

A team of Imphal police rushed to the spot and safely recovered the bomb at around 10 pm and registered a case for investigation.

The second attack occurred at around 11.05 pm.

Unidentified persons hurled a hand grenade towards the residence of Akoijam Deepanand at Kwakeithel Akham Leikai under Lamphel police station.

The bomb exploded and damaged the residential gate, but no one was injured.

Imphal West police rushed to the spot and took stock of the incident.

A case has been taken up by the Lamphel police for investigation.

The third attack occurred at around 12.30 am today.

Unidentified persons hurled a hand grenade at the residence of Mayengbam Tolenjao Mangang (55) at Lamboikhong-nangkhong Veterinary Leirak.

The hand-grenade did not explode.

Imphal West police rushed to the spot and recovered the hand-grenade at around 1.20 am .
