Imphal, August 17 2024:
The Rongmei Naga Council, Manipur has called an indefinite blockade on NH-37, Tongjei Maril road and Laimatak Loktak Project Road from August 18 midnight.
The bandh is in response to lack of positive response from the Government towards a demand for an alternative administrative arrangement for Naga villages in Kangpokpi and Churachandpur.
Notably, the RNCM on August 15 had submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister urging the Government to include administrative and development programmes of the Rongmei villages under Noney district for better administrative convenience and governance.
Naga people in Saitu AC, Kangpokpi district and Henglep AC in Churachandpur will enforce the indefinite bandh.
The bandh will affect Leimatak Loktak Project Road, NH-37 and Tongjei Maril Road, said RNCM.
Urging people to support the bandh, it said medical, water and electricity, and education related services will be exempted from the purview of the bandh.
