MPCC urges Centre

The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee held a meeting of its Political Affairs Com-mittee (PAC) and has urged the Centre and the State Government to control the situation in Jiribam imme-diately and save lives and properties of the public.
The PAC meeting was held at Congress Bhavan, Imphal in the afternoon with MPCC president MLA K Meghachandra in the chair.
Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader and former CM Okram Ibobi, CWC member Gaikhangam, Deputy CLP leader K Ranjit, party's chief whip Th Loke-shwar and MP elects Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam and Alfred Kanngam S Arthur attended the meeting, among others.
The PAC meeting took several resolutions pertaining to the present turmoil in Jiribam district and also inducted MP elect Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam as a member of the Political Affairs Committee of the MPCC.
Notably, Alfred Kan-ngam S Arthur is already a member of the PAC, MPCC.
Regarding the turmoil in Jiribam, the PAC resolved to appeal to the Centre and the State Government to control the situation immediately and save the lives and properties of the public.
It said the Central and State security forces deployed in Jiribam district should be utilised properly by giving their responsibilities as laid down in relevant Act and rules to restore peace and harmony.
The PAC further resolved to appeal to the Centre and the State Government to restore peace and harmony in the State by letting the State Government exercise powers and duties provided under the Constitution of India.
