CCpur, November 29 2015:
The armed conglomerates, KNO and UPF have today issued a joint statement reiterating their commitment to the political survival of the people and their support to the movement against the three 'anti-tribal Bills', and warned divisive activities or formation of any new outfit.
"As we remain vibrant and committed to our political causes, we also reiterate our support to the JAC against the three anti-tribal bills, Joint Philanthropic Organisations, Manipur Tribal Forum formed in various cities and towns, Innpis, Church leaders, and a host of civil organisations in their movement against the three Bills," said a joint statement of the KNO & UPF and TS Haokip, Co-convenor KNO & UPF.
'We urge them to remain focus and not be misled by subsidiary issues that can disturb the hard-earned unity.
We understand the sentiment of the people and welcome various opinions expressed for the betterment of the people.
However, we are completely against the divisive approaches of some section of the people and warn them to stop their activities henceforth.
Formation of new outfit from this juncture, under any pretext, shall be countered collectively and effectively as we remain affirmative to the positive outcome of the on-going peace process,' it added.
The three 'anti-tribal Bills' passed by the State Assembly, claimed the joint statement, have awakened the political consciousness of the tribal which also triggered waves of mass movement against the Bills leading to the loss of 'nine Martyrs' .
'We salute them for their supreme sacrifices and share the grief and sorrow of the bereaved family members.
The incident has become an opportunity to highlight the inevitable political separation for the tribals of Manipur.
Thus, the KNO and UPF have unanimously decided to pursue common political objectives which would be nothing less than a 'State status,' send joint delegation to Delhi and recently worked out its 'common political road-map' on 25th November, 2015,' it said.
The statement also maintained that each and every one of them have committed their lives and entered SoO with the Government, to initiate a peaceful political process as they are committed to the political survivor of their people.
