Churches, NGOs and Human Rights bodies today condemned the death of a woman here in a gun fight between rival Naga underground groups and called upon warring factions to give peace a chance in Nagaland.
In a shoot-out in the heart of Kohima town last Thursday, an NSCN (K) activist was killed and a stray bullet hit a woman vegetable vendor from Kohima village who succumbed to her injuries.
Condemning the incident, Naga People's Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR) expressed serious concern over the incidence of spurt in violence leading to killings of innocent civilians in cross-fire between rival underground groups.
Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC), the apex Church body in the State, also expressed its dismay over the reported incidents of factional fighting in different parts of the State, leading to injuries and killing of innocent civilians at Kohima and Phek district.
