No intrusion : MEA spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin

In response to the alleged intrusion of Myanmar troops into Manipur along the border, Syed Akbaruddin, spokesperson of MEA said in an interview to ANI today afternoon, that there is no such intrusion nor incursion, and claimed that the an issue is over the un-demarcated border area near pillar number 76.While stating that it is for the border sentinels to indicate the actual situation, the MEA official affirmed that the MHA, which over-seas the border affairs of the NE region, had also confirmed and stated that that it is unfair to say there is an incursion or an intrusion.
"There has been some activity going on near pillar number 76 areas, on the side of Myanmar" Akbaruddin said adding "there has also been an understanding that there should not be any constructions near the un-demarcated border area , and that is the issue now" .
He further stated that Assam Rifles which comes under the MHA is already in touch with Myanmar army.
On the diplomatic front the MEA has taken up the matter with the Indian mission in Myanmar and had given a suggestion for a Joint Working Group between India and Myanmar to resolve the issue of border Pillar number 76 said the Spokesperson in his interview " I am confident that given our good relations with Myanmar, we will take up the issue bilaterally in the spirit of a good neighborly relations" .
