Imphal, August 01 2016:
Families of around 300 alleged fake encounter victims have so far submitted relevant documents to Extra Judicial Execution Victim Families Association (EEVFAM) .
The association has been collecting these documents from July 25 at their temporary office opened at AMBA building, Cheirap Court complex to submit it to the Supreme Court.
The association has also appointed two co-ordinators each for all the districts to collect the documents from the victims' families.
On July 8, the Supreme Court directed the association to submit all the documents related to 1528 persons allegedly killed by the police, paramilitary forces and army in fake encounters at the next hearing on September 7, 2016 .

In order to comply with this directive, the association had asked the victims' families to submit relevant documents by August 25 .
EEVFAM President Renu Takhellabam told The Sangai Express that the families have to submit copies of complaint made to the authority, FIR, inquiry/investigation, documents related to ex-gratia/compensation, post mortem report and newspaper clippings etc.
She further said that families of 20 other 'fake encounter' victims who were not among 1528 cases had also submitted documents.
She said that even families of those persons who had links with underground outfits may submit their documents.
Urging the families of all the fake encounter victims to provide all the available information to the association, Renu said that it is a good opportunity for them to get justice.
She further said that association members would visit those families which are unable to contact them and are living at interior areas.
Saying that they have learned that some family members had been denied FIR copies by the police stations concerned, Renu urged the OCs concerned to cooperate with the victims' families.
Stating that many vital information and documents might be available at the custody of local club and JAC members, Renu urged these clubs and JACs to hand over these documents to the association.
Maintaining that it is a mammoth task to collect the documents of 1528 victims within a short period, Renu urged the public to extend cooperation to the association in this regard.
She also lauded the district coordinators and members of EEVFAM for working day and night.
Renu said that she is hopeful that the 'fake encounter' victims would get justice soon.
